Cyber Monday Mega Sale

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

That time when the hustle and bustle of the holiday season are at its peak - decorating, shopping, baking - all the activities that bring us together with family and friends to celebrate in our own special ways.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our family - cooking, eating, watching football, eating and well, you get the picture... probably much like your holiday also.

Now that Thanksgiving is over it's time to take down all that wonderful Fall decor and concentrate on the Christmas decor.  I love Fall and hate to see it go but I also love Christmas and love creating a Christmas Wonderland in our home each year.  So, this week I am going to be quite busy doing just that.

But, before I do any decorating each year I plan out what I want to do and begin making a lot of my decor.  I love putting a handmade touch to each and every vignette I make.  And, with the discovery of Chalk Couture that has been made even easier for me to do.  I am able to create a beautiful piece in no time - I'm talking minutes - compared to the hours I used to spend before.

In case you have missed some of my most recent posts you can read all about Chalk Couture here.
It's a new system of silkscreen transfers, chalk paste, inks, and surfaces that are taking the craft industry by storm.  Their transfers are quite trendy - as you can see above - easy to use and can be done in just minutes.  I am in love with the product and the way the finished project turns out - perfection.

I also love how versatile it is - you can use it on most any surface you want - canvas, burlap, wood, glass, chalkboard, fabric - the list just goes on.  So many ways to incorporate it into your home whether you have the farmhouse, rustic, cottage, or eclectic decor - it will fit right in. And, so easy to make handmade gifts for your friends and family this holiday season.

Just think of all the ways you can make your home festive for the holidays this year.  The ways are almost endless.
However, Chalk Couture is not just for the holidays - you can add the trendiest decor to your home year-round with their products.

Chalkboard Art: Easy as 1-2-3

I am a lover of all things chalkboard. I have them everywhere.  Some I have created from thrift store finds such as old framed pictures, mirrors, canvases, and plates; but,  I have also added chalkboards to some pieces of furniture I have redone and even turned a kitchen wall into a chalkboard - that's how much I love them.   However, I am unable to do the beautiful chalk art I see all over Pinterest that makes me swoon. It takes me hours and hours just to do a bit of stenciled lettering on one.  So, to say I fell madly in love with this amazing product I just found would be an understatement.  I. AM.IN.LOVE!!  I can now do those amazing chalkboards I see all the time,  AND... in just a few minutes - instead of hours and hours of stressing over one to get it perfect.

What is the secret I have discovered to making easy chalkboard art, you ask... Chalk Couture.  You can create your own masterpiece, no matter what your crafting ability is .... over and over again.   It's as easy as 1-2-3 and you have beautiful customized decor for your home that you have created yourself.  And, if you decide you want to change it in a few days, weeks or months - just wipe it off and make a new customized piece.

This is a method using transfers, pastes, and inks to turn your boards from boring to amazing.  It is such an easy process that anyone can use them with picture-perfect results every time that last forever  -  or,  if you decide you don't want that particular design anymore you just wash it off and start all over with a new design. So versatile - you can change it out to fit your mood, the weather or the holidays.

These chalks and inks can be used on almost any surface except plastic.  Just imagine customizing your own decor using these products.  I am thinking of chalkboards, art canvas, furniture  (painted or stained), glass, fabric, tin, wood farmhouse signs - whatever you can dream you can make.  Not only can you use it for your home decor but also for gifts for friends and family.  Such a fun and versatile product that can be used over and over again.

I love it so much that I have become an independent designer for Chalk Couture.  Chalk Couture cannot be purchased in stores or online but must be purchased from an independent designer. Therefore,  I have a shop where you can go to purchase transfers and paste to make your own amazing chalkboards and chalk art.

So stay tuned here and check out my Facebook Page and my new Facebook group,  Chaulkin' With Cathy where I will be sharing lots of fun projects using Chalk Couture.  I will also be sharing lots of tips, tricks, and techniques in the Chalkin' With Cathy group.  You will definitely want to join this group so you don't miss a thing. Can't wait to see you there - we're going to have a great time.

Until next time - have fun creating something you love.

Fall Mantel

Vintage, Paint and more... a vintage mantel done with a paper leaf wreath and dollar store pumpkins

It's beginning to look a little like fall around here.  I finally got everything done to put my Fall Mantel together this weekend.  I really didn't have to do much because I already had most all these things but, with the temps and humidity we have been having I just was not motivated to put out pumpkins and fall leaves yet  This year I decided to go with the traditional colors of fall.  I love the oranges, golds and browns. that are so prevalent now.  Last year I did a more neutral design and although I liked it I wasn't in love with it.

Throwback Thursday - Summer Entryway 2013

It's time again for me to come up with a summer decor idea for
my entryway.
I have an idea of what I want to do
and
have even started working on it.
But, since it's Throwback Thursday I thought
I would look at last years entryway.

Kitchen Communication Center

Written by: Cathy Carroll

We are a family of five with many interests and many directions
we move in each day.
That has caused us some very chaotic and confusing times lately;
so,
I decided it was time to do something about organizing our schedules.
Thus,
The Communication Center
was born.
Kitchen Communication Center - black chalkboard painted wall containing calendar and clipboards for family communication

I really don't know what took me so long to put this together.
It has been in the planning stages for quite some time.
And, we definitely could have used it way before now.
Too many times we have had scheduling conflicts
that
could have been avoided with just a simple bit of communication.

Fall Entryway

Vintage, Paint and more... fall entry with black, white and gold painted pumpkins.

Good afternoon everyone...
Fall has finally come to the beach and I am absolutely thrilled about it... We have had the windows open for the last few days enjoying the sun and the breezes and the cool temps.  The trees are still all green except a few little maples that have begun to turn colors. The flowers are still blooming and it doesn't look much like fall but that's ok because the temps are down and that's the important part... I have been busy trying to "fallify"  our house and have been working on the entryway.

Summer Entryway

Hello there friends,
Today I am going to show you my
summer entryway....

I know that we are late into the summer
but,
I just did get the 4th of July decor down...
We are running a little behind
due to Miss A's surgery...
However, she is doing great
and
we are finally moving along...
But,
then it helps if you're getting house guests in
a couple of days also....

We have changed the chalkboard...
and I say we
because
my granddaughter did the
graphics on the chalkboard.
(It's very hard to photo this area as
it's only 4x4 and totally enclosed)
As you can see we used colored chalk to make
it very colorful
and
playful
for the feel of summer....

Then, of course, I have hung
our colorful
and quite popular
flip flop wreath...
(the post on it can be found here)
I love how playful and bright it is...

On our checkerboard bench
( the post can be found here )
you will see a colorful beach tote,
an orange and pink scarf
and
of course,
a pair of hot pink flip flops.
They all add to the colorfulness
and
playfulness
of the entryway.

It is so bright and cheerful
when you open the door to come in now....
Loving this and thinking
I will have a very difficult time when
it comes time to change it....

Hope you are enjoying your summer
and
having a great time
at
whatever you are doing.

We are definitely having
fun in the sun
here at the beach

Until next time ...
get out there and create something you love....

Black and White Chalkboard

Vintage, Paint and more... Old mirror transformed into chalkboard with DIY chalkpaint

Good morning friends..
Remember this cute little black and white check bench I painted a few weeks back.
