Spring is in the Air

It's hard to believe but Spring has sprung here at the beach.  We were out for a bit this afternoon and the pear trees are in full bloom, the azaleas are beginning to bloom and a lot of the trees have tiny little leaf buds just starting.  And, of course, the dreaded yellow sticky pollen of the South has started collecting on everything,

We love spending our days out here enjoying the sun and warm breezes.  Our community is close knit so we also get to spend a ot of time chatting with neighbors.  Such a lovely place to be.

I have been adding a bit of Spring to our home a little at a time.  I am so ready for a change.  Right now I am in the process of adding green plants and colorful faux flowers.  They bring so much peace and joy to our home.  I love how they can change a space in just minutes.

I love how adding a few green plants to this hutch turned library change it so much - giving it that Spring vibe I'm so needing right now.  Now, I just need to get to the rest of the room and Spring it up a bit.  I'll be working on that this week.

So, for now I am going to sign off and I will be back this week with another bit of fun for you.  Stay tuned I've got lots of great stuff to share with you all.

                       Till next time'

Spring Wreath Done in a Frame

Spring has definitely arrived here at the beach.  On Sunday they opened our community pool and Miss A just had to jump in - of course, she was the only one that was brave enough to do so.  The temperature was 62* - a little too cool for me - but, she loved it!. I think it will be closer to mid July before I try jumping in... Last week I shared our sunny Spring blue and yellow mantel with you so, today I thought I would share a cute little blue and yellow Spring wreath in a frame you can make to go with your Spring decor.  This project is so simple and easy - you can have it done in about 30 minutes. Isn't it just too cute!

Spring Mantel Done in Blue and Yellow

Spring is in the air and I am so happy to finally see it here.  It seems like this has been the longest winter for us even though we did not have the mounds of snow and sub-zero temps that many of you had.    So, to celebrate this I put together a pretty blue and yellow Spring Mantel. I love how it brings so much color and cheerfulness to this room.

Spring Market Basket Remake

Hi everyone.... can you believe it's been almost a year since I last posted.  I've been meaning to write something for a while now but it just didn't get it done. During  my hiatus I worked on lots of great projects to share with you and will be doing so in the next few weeks.  But today I would like to share an easy spring project that can be done in an afternoon.

a plain market basket painted to look vintage then filled with beautiful faux flowers

I made a pretty little spring basket for our dining room table out of a plain old market basket my DIL brought home with fruit in it this past Christmas.

a plain straw market basket

I found it sitting around in the garage taking up space this past month and decided to put it to good use.

So I painted it.  I used Valspar's Gravity Gray to base paint it - inside and out using a craft brush.  Then when it was dry I simply used a dry brush of white craft paint and brushed lightly over the entire outside of the basket to make it look aged and vintage.

Here you can see how the white is just lightly brushed over the gray - the effect is wonderful.

Then I filled it with "faux" blue hydrangeas, white stems and some variegated ivy I found at Michael's at 50% off.  I then tied a black check wired ribbon around the top of the basket.  I love this look - it goes so well with my "new" dining table I will be sharing at a later date.

I placed it on a vintage doily my Mother crocheted many years ago.  Then placed my vintage ceramic rabbit next to it.  I now have a pretty little Easter/Spring centerpiece.  I'll just take the rabbit away after Easter and leave the basket for a few more weeks.  I love versatile and effortless decorating.

I also love how you can take a plain ole basket and turn it into a lovely one of a kind centerpiece in just an afternoon.

That's it for me today - what have you been up to?  Would love to hear from you in the comments below.

I will be sharing this with the link parties listed on my Where I Party page.

DIY Vintage Pallet Tray

This post was made in collaboration with Walnut Hallow.  All opinions are 100% my own.

Good morning friends.
I am so glad you have stopped by today because I have a real treat for you.  I have joined up with several other bloggers to participate in the Create and Share Monthly DIY Challenge hosted by Stephanie at Casa Watkins .
We were each given a wood item and a woodburning tool by Walnut Hallow and the instructions to complete it in any way we chose. I decided on their pallet tray and transformed it into the tray below.

Pastel Spring Mantel Done with Books

Good morning friends.
I don't know about where you are but Spring is in full swing here and I am all about bringing some of that bright color and sunshine into our home after this long winter.  I have been busy adding small touches to our decor to reflect the beautiful pastel colors of Spring. I started this process by adding a lot of pastel color to our mantel in a very simple way - using books.

Spring Centerpiece Done with Graphic French Box

Good morning everyone.
Even though it's still chilly and/or cold where many of you live we are beginning to see warmer temps causing my thoughts to turn to Spring this week. And with those thoughts I love to freshen up our decor by adding a few bright flowers in new ways. So today I am going to show you this little centerpiece I made from a thrifted wooden graphic French box I found and some milk jars I purchased at the Target dollar spot - love that place.

Boston Fern Solution

Good morning everyone.
We have been busily working on all our outside projects as I know many of you have also.  Seems like we get one marked off our list and another 5 or so gets added.  The weather has been cooperating these past few days and we have been able to get quite a few done so I have not been able to work on too many projects that are blog worthy. (Who wants to read about raking, weeding, cleaning up limbs - the boring Spring chores?)  I thought I would share a very simple solution to a problem I had with you today - how to display my Boston ferns this year.

DIY Spring Wreath

Good morning everyone.
I have been doing a lot of work on the outside this past week even though it's been raining every day.  I almost have the front porch and flower bed finished so I will be revealing that later this week.  Just a couple more things to do. But for today I thought I would show you the Spring Wreath I made for the porch.

Sun Loving Container Garden

Good morning everyone.
We have been having the most beautiful weather here this past weekend as I hope all of you have also.  It has been perfect for doing our yard work and getting some flower gardens spiffed up and planned.  I love making container gardens every Spring and scatter them through out our landscape and porches.  This year I can make both sun loving and shade loving container gardens as the front is sunny and the back is quite shady.  So I get to play with all the plants available.  This weekend I put together two sun loving containers for our front porch.

Spring Table Centerpiece

Good morning everyone.  Hope Spring has finding you as it has us.  Last week was Spring break and we spent it in the mountains and enjoyed every minute of it.  Now I am in full blown Spring fever mode.  So today I thought I would show you our Spring table centerpiece.

Hydrangeas

We were having such beautiful Spring weather this past week then suddenly a cold front decided to move through and with it brought some freezing temps.  At least it wasn't the snow some of you are still experiencing.  But I have a brand new hydrangea bush and it had such beautiful blossoms on it I didn't want them to freeze.  So I decided to bring them in and enjoy them indoors.

Yarn Wrapped Egg Tutorial

Good Morning everyone.
In my last post I showed you some really cute and colorful wrapped eggs I had made.  So today I thought I would show you how to make your own with whatever bits of yarn, twine, baker's twine, or string you may have on hand.  It makes no difference they are all done the same.  This is a picture of the eggs in one of my Dollar Store Tins that I painted.  These are quite simple to make, and take just a few minutes - so you can turn out a dozen or more in no time.  I usually make mine while watching my evening TV shows.

Plain Tins Turned Trendy

Good morning everyone.  I was at the Dollar Tree the other day when I happened on these little tins.  They were cute but the colors were all wrong and they were pretty plain - I almost passed them by.  Then an idea struck and  I knew I could alter them to make them really trendy and fit into our present decor.
So I bought these plain little tins to work a little magic on.

Spring in the Entryway

Good morning everyone.  Today I thought I would bring you a little more Spring by showing you our Spring entryway.  I wanted to keep it vintage and neutral this year and I think I achieved that with the items I chose.

Fabric Rag Wreath Tutorial

Good morning everyone,
Last week I shared our Spring Mantel with you and promised I would write the tutorial for the fabric rag wreath featured above it.
So today I thought I would bring you that tutorial so you could make one for yourself if you so choose.

Spring Mantel 2015

Before I get into today's post I need to address an issue we just discovered.  Remember signing up for Vintage, Paint and more's emails so you wouldn't miss any of the projects and tutorials?  Well, we just discovered that they were being blocked due to a technical issue.  But with the help of an expert in this field we were able to get that issue resolved and now you will be receiving those emails just as you signed up for them.  Thank you so much for your patience in this manner and if you have any questions just ask in the comments below.  I will get back to you.

Good morning everyone.
Hope you all are having some beautiful weather where you are as we are here.  It has been so pretty we have been able to be outside most of each day this week just enjoying the sun and the ocean breezes with these wonderful warm temps.  I would have to say Spring has arrived.  And with that let's get on to today's post.

Spring Wreath

My how time flies.  It actually seems we were just making our New Years Goals and putting away Christmas - then the Valentine decorations and here we are thinking  of Spring already.  But when so many are still experiencing lots of snow it is hard to believe that it's just around the corner. So in celebration of Spring soon arriving I am going to show you a quick little Spring wreath you can make. This little wreath could be used for St.Patrick's Day as well as the Spring season.

Spring in a Cloche

Today I thought I would bring you another little touch of Spring.
I don't know about you but I am needing it.
This week is Spring break for the kiddos
and
Mother Nature has not cooperated at all.
On Sunday they were swimming in the pool
and
on Monday the rain and the cold came.
Now it's so chilly you have to wear a jacket outside
and
swimming is out of the question.
So, I decided to make a little Spring in my cloche to help us
remember it is - in fact, still Spring
