LightView Rolling Base Magnifier Light

**This post contains a partnership with Brightech, I was provided with a light and am giving my honest review of it. All opinions and text are my own.**

As you all know I do lots of different types of crafts to share with you and many of them have very detailed up close work that has to be done.  As I have gotten older, it has gotten increasingly difficult to see that very detailed work due to the normal aging process of my eyes.  Many times I have to get the strongest light I can find and magnifier glasses to see what I am doing.  So, when Brightech contacted me and asked if I would like to try one of their magnifier lamps I was ecstatic.  Following is a review of what I received.

Vintage Paint and more... a rolling maginifier light to make your crafting easier

I chose the LightView Rolling Base Magnifier Light.  I liked the fact that it was on a base that could be rolled about to the different areas I work in.  I am constantly moving about the house to do my projects and needed something that was easy to take with me.

This light is on a very sturdy, weighted base that takes up very little floor space - so very important to me as sometimes I am working in a small cramped space.  It has 6 wheels on the base that move quite easily from tile to wood to carpet keeping it steady so it doesn't tip - this is also a very important feature for me as I move about the house.

It stands about 5' tall when it's fully extended.   It has a flexible and multi-jointed arm that can be arched at an angle or raised to about 34"  staying where you place it - quite versatile in its ability to adapt to your area.  Below I am using it while doing some fabric flowers in my comfy chair in the family room.  But, I can easily roll it to my craft table, kitchen table, or even out to my porch when I want to enjoy the cooler weather. I love that I can take it wherever I feel like working that day.

Vintage Paint and more... a light that magnifies small craft projects and print

The magnified portion has a large area for you to see what you are doing.  It actually magnifies up to 225% - that's a lot of magnification for those tiny little areas I work in - like the 22-count counted cross-stitch I like to do or the very tiny detailed painting and lettering.   It also has a dust cover to protect the magnifier glass from dust and scratches.

The magnifier lamp is amazing with its ability to go from reading to working on intricate projects with just the touch of a finger.  The light will last up to 100,000 hours and has 60,000 miniature LED lights that produce the amount of brightness you need without generating any heat.  This is a big plus for me - as my photography lights generate enough heat without adding more from another light.

The light arrived in just 2 days after Brightech notified me of their shipping it.  It arrived in a very carefully packed box - I was actually impressed with all the packaging.  It is quite simple to set up - I was able to put it together in less than 5 minutes time.  I love the overall look of it - the white fits in with our decor so well that I don't mind leaving it sitting in whatever room I am working.  It doesn't look like a piece of equipment.  I'd also like to mention Brightech offers a 5-year warranty on this light.

If you're looking for something to help you see those intricate details or that fine print better this light may just be what you're looking for - and the fact that it can basically go wherever your projects are is a big plus. I am doing some holiday crafting and will be sharing that with you soon.  So, until then - have fun creating something you love.

DIY Vintage Pallet Tray

This post was made in collaboration with Walnut Hallow.  All opinions are 100% my own.

Good morning friends.
I am so glad you have stopped by today because I have a real treat for you.  I have joined up with several other bloggers to participate in the Create and Share Monthly DIY Challenge hosted by Stephanie at Casa Watkins .
We were each given a wood item and a woodburning tool by Walnut Hallow and the instructions to complete it in any way we chose. I decided on their pallet tray and transformed it into the tray below.

Vintage Industrial Light

**This post contains a partnership with Parrot Uncle, I was provided with a light and am giving my honest review of it. All opinions and text are my own.**

Hi everyone.  I have been a bit MIA lately as you may have noticed.  Our family had a medical emergency that required my undo attention but all is well and things are perking along just fine.
If you all have been following me for a while you know that about a year ago we moved into a new home and have been slowly making some changes to it ( we have yet to complete a single room!)  Our latest project has been to paint the entire downstairs area - this turned out to be a huge project for hubby and I and is still yet to be completed.  The area I am sharing with you today is the kitchen eat in area.

Vintage, Paint and more... before picture of eat in area of kitchen

This is what it looked like when we moved in and we have done nothing to it except let things accumulate here - do you have an area like that?  (I think every house has one.) We did get the painting almost done in here. However we have 10" ceilings and that little bit requires standing on a ladder (something I don't do and hubby hasn't been able to do). Hopefully we will soon be able to finish that little bit and move on to the rest of the room.  (You can actually see that small area in the picture below.)

This is the light hanging in that little area and although there is nothing wrong with it I wanted something a bit different as I am working towards a vintage industrial look in here.  So when a company called Parrot Uncle contacted me and asked if I would be interested in working with them I jumped at the chance.  A new ceiling light was just the thing I had been looking for to get this makeover started off.
I found exactly what I was looking for with this Rustic Industrial Style Pendant Light with Black Shade and Cage.  I love the wire cage it has - it reminds me so much of a vintage fan and the black metal has that awesome industrial feel I am going for.  This light has an 18" diameter and the chain and wire has a 39" length for hanging. And most importantly it is so vintage industrial!

Parrot Uncle has so many options that I honestly had a very difficult time choosing just which one I wanted in this area.  They have refined industrial home lighting  and inexpensive vintage pendent lights - something to fit every budget.  There is also a huge sale happening on their web site right now - just in time for the holidays. And Parrot Uncle offers free shipping and free returns.

Vinage, Paint and more... switching light fixtures

"T" changed the light out for me one evening.  It was a simple switch out - connecting the existing wires to those on the light. The only problem we had was the bracket that held the light's bolts were not in alignment with our ceiling bracket so he had to drill a couple of holes that did line up.  Easy fix and only took a couple extra minutes.

Here it is all installed and hanging beautifully.  I just have to pick up one of the Edison light bulbs for it to make it look more authentic.  I love the black against the new grey of the walls that we now have.
So if you're in the market for a new light jump on over to Parrot Uncle and check out what they have - so many beautiful styles to choose from - I think you will surely find one you love that will fit in your decor. I know I have my eye on a couple more.

We finally found the exact pieces we want for this area at a new to us thrift store we we visited a couple weeks ago.  However, they are requiring a lot of work to transform them into that vintage industrial look I want.

Until next time enjoy creating something you love.

I will be linking to the parties listed on the Where I Party page. Please be sure to go by and visit them - I'm sure you'll love all the creativity and inspiration you'll find there.

Smart Home Temperature Control

This post is sponsored by Honeywell and Klout.  I was compensated for writing it, but all opinions are 100% mine.

This weekend some very unseasonably cold weather came to visit the beach.  We had been having our usual beautiful Fall weather - sunny skies with temps in the 70's and then all of a sudden on Friday night we were sitting at 30 degrees.  I know that you in the Midwest and North have been having quite a bit of cold temps along with snow but for us to have 30's this soon is a little out of normal.  And I might add I just plain freeze to death at these temps.  Thank goodness I received the Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control in the mail the same day.It was a perk from Klout.

Hometalk - DIY Kitchen Sign Inspriation

About six months ago I was talking with one of my blogger friends Kathe at Kathe With an E and she suggested that

would be a perfect place for me to share my projects.  I took her advice and I have to say I have Fallen. In. Love.  with this site.

                                                            Find me on Homtalk.com

I love the fact that I not only can share my projects with others but I can find so much inspiration from all the DIY Home and Garden projects found there.  And if I have a question about a particular process or project I can ask it there and someone will surely have an answer or point me in the right direction to find it.  It is also a great site to collect ideas you may want to use in the the future or refer to at a later date.  All you have to do is click on that project and add it to a board you have created.  Easy peasy and always there for you to find again.

So you can imagine my excitement when Liz from Hometalk contacted me and asked me to curate a

"DIY Kitchen Sign" board for Hometalk.

I was ecstatic.  And, it was so much fun to see all the great ideas and inspiration put into these awesome signs.

DIY Kitchen Sign Inspiration

I love signs and love making them.   After curating this board I know there are more signs in my future. If you click on the image above or the link it will take you to the Kitchen Sign board where you can then read the full post on each sign.  I am sure you will find a great one to spark some inspiration for you to make one of your own.  I know I am going to be busy in the next few weeks.

If you love to share your DIY, home and/or garden projects then this is the place to do so.  If you don't have anything to share it's a great place to get some awesome inspiration for your next project, create your own boards and build some great places to keep all your inspiration in one spot.
Beware though - it can be addicting!

You can also follow them on Facebook where they love to feature some of the projects shared on their site.
Have fun perusing all the great projects and building your own creative, inspirational boards.

Until next time have fun creating something you love.

Hugs,

I will be linking this post up to the parties listed in the above "I Party At" page.
