Beach Inspired Decor

Hi everyone.  Hope you're able to keep cool during these ever so hot days of July we are having.  We are doing a lot of indoor projects or going to the beach since its just too hot to go out until evening.  So today I thought since it is beach weather around here I would bring you a few of the beach inspired projects I have done to give our home that beach feel I so love.

There are several and I think you'll find that they are quite simple, quick and budget friendly as most of the items are either thrifted or from the Dollar store.
First up are some simple projects I did with glass ware from the Dollar Tree.  I used clear glass vases, bowls, and candle holders and painted them with a mix of mod podge and craft paint to create "faux" sea glass.

Just add a nice raffia place mat from Good Will and a few shells and you have a wonderful beach inspired vignette.

With these Dollar Tree vases I just wrapped them with some rope also from the Dollar Tree.  Place them in a nice little round basket along with some shells and you have brought a bit of the beach into your family room.

Next I did a couple of cute projects using shims.  Shims can be found at your local hardware store and are used in construction. I just used a little craft paint and some shells to create this piece.

My next few projects were put together for our porch.  The first one is another shim project that is stenciled and hung from a vintage mirror that was turned into a chalkboard.

Then I simply painted a thrifted boat oar to match our colors and stood it up in a corner.

A beach inspired wreath can be made from an old thrifted or reused grapevine wreath by just adding some raffia and shells.

Put all these together and you have a very beach inspired porch to greet your guests. Just add a small palm and a few shells and the look is complete.

This little collection would not be complete if I didn't include at least a couple of projects that I did with twine.  You know how much I love to wrap things with twine.  The first being a set of cute little nautical coasters.

And what beach decor would be complete without a beach wrapped table?  One of my favorite pieces by far.

Then last but not least is the reverse stenciled beach table that "T" built for our beach inspired patio.  A very simple little table that adds some real whimsy to the area.
If you are unable to build a little table these can be found in thrift stores quite readily.

I love making our beach inspired decor from thrift store and dollar store finds. I love how they add that coastal/nautical feel I want to achieve in our home.
What have you been up to during this hot spell - staying in, vacationing, or working on projects?  Would love to hear all about it in the comments below.

Until next time have fun creating something you love.

I will be linking up to the parties listed on the Where I Party page.  please go and visit them you'll find lots of inspiration and  creativeness at each one.

  8. Wow Cathy! You are one busy lady! Everything looks so high end, you would not be able to tell you purchased some things from the dollar store. I really like the boat ore--that is a creative way to display your house number.
