Throwback Thursday - Funky Little Desk

Vintage, Paint and more... thrifted desk repainted in a whimsical design

Good morning everyone.
I thought that we would have a little fun today
with a
Throwback Thursday post.
I chose a little desk that I did two years ago
when I was creating Miss A's space in our new home.
I absolutely love this little desk and you can read about it
at

It was originally purchased at Good Will for $25
and
was our first thrifted furniture piece to be updated.
Vintage, Paint and more... thrifted desk, Good Will desk

The desk was sound but the wood was in poor shape.
So, I set about priming and painting it.
Then I got this brilliant idea to "funk" it up a bit.
After all it was going in a little girl's room
and
the more fun the better.

Vintage, Paint and more... decorative painted desk, girly girl furniture, polka dot painted desk, black and white check painted furniture

So she received a different pastel color on each leg
and
none other than - Polka Dots.

Vintage, Paint and more... black and white check decorative painting on furniture, polka dots painted on furniture

The top was then painted pink with white polka dots
and
the best part of all
a black and white checked border.
I think it just sets it off.

I painted the drawer pink also and gave it some white polka dots
as well.
The hardware just needed a little polishing
and
as it was still perfect.

Vintage, Paint and more... mod podge drawer, drawer lined with wrapping paper, decorative drawer liner

The inside of the drawer was mod podged
with
some really fun polka dot themed wrapping paper.
Very girly.

And here she is....
I think I am so partial to this piece because
I put so much creativity into it
instead of just leaving it plain.
She loves it
but,
alas, I think she may soon be outgrowing it
as she is soon entering her pre-teen years.
And we all know how grown up these pre-teen girls can be.
So this piece may be finding a new home soon....

Have you done something that your family is outgrowing
and
you are sad to see it leaving?
Or, did you re purpose it for another use?
