Christmas on the Porch and The Home for Christmas Blog Hop

Good morning everyone. This past week I have been busy getting our Christmas decor put up and I am telling you - next year I am starting sooner.  I wanted to wait till after Thanksgiving to start but trying to get it all up in one week has been quite the challenge. I am almost done now and am looking forward to putting the empty containers away.

Today I have a treat for you I am joining a fantastic group of bloggers in the
        Home for Christmas Blog Hop
    hosted by
      Hometalk.com and CountryLiving.com.

We are sharing our Christmas decor in one big blog hop that is filled with amazing DIY projects, crafts and decor done by some very talented bloggers.  Be sure to visit these wonderful ladies and check out what has been put together for your enjoyment.

I am sharing our Christmas decorated porch today.
This time last year we had just moved into our home and were still unpacking boxes. Needless to say decorating our front porch was not on my priority list. I barely got our tree up with all that had to be done. So this year I was super excited to put together a Christmas porch.

Vintage, Paint and more... porch before

This is a picture of what it looked like last year.  Not a Christmas bow, wreath or light could be found anywhere.

Vintage, Paint and more... budget friendlyChristmas decor created with thrifted, repurposed and recycled items

This is how it looks this year.  I love every bit of it.  By usng several things that I found at thrift stores and garage sales and repurposing things from around our home I was able to make a very cozy inviting space for very little investment in time or money.

Vintage, Paint and more... vintage ladder made into Christmas "tree" with fresh greenery, ribbon and lights

I started by adding this ladder tree I made. The ladder was a great yard sale find from a couple years ago.  I simply added some fresh greenery, burlap ribbon, lights, a big gold star and some red balls to make it oh so Christmasy. Next to it I placed one of two black urns I filled  with fresh greens and "faux" poinsettias. I am lucky because we have several large pine trees in the back yard that I was able to cut a few stray branches off to use as my fresh greenery this year.

Vintage, Paint and more... diy pine cone wreath

Next you can see the Pine Cone Wreath I made a couple of years ago.  I am so happy with how this wreath turned out and how it has done so well through the years.

Vintage, Paint and more... vintage wood rabbit dressed up for Christmas

I have two rabbits that are residents on and beneath the bird bath table.  I gave them a bit of festive charm by adding burlap ribbon bows with a bit of pine greenery.  The black sleigh was a Salvation Army find this fall that I painted with black chalkboard paint and filled with the pine greenery and sprigs of "faux" red berries.  Nothing fancy but certainly adds to the feeling of Christmas on this porch.

Vintage, Paint and more... vintage Pepsi wagon decorated for Christmas

Next to the rocking chair on the left is a vintage Pepsi wagon I found at a thrift store this fall.  I just had to have it because our home town had a Pepsi bottling factory that is now closed.  It just brought back so many memories of our home town.  I filled it with the pine greenery, a couple of wrapped packages (cereal boxes and brown package paper),  a string of lights, and some more "faux" berry sprigs. Miss "A" found a little berry wreath that she felt needed to be added to the handle and so it was.

Vintage, Paint and more... canvas picture repurposed into a joy sign with paint

Hanging to the left of the entryway is a canvas sign I made by painting over an existing picture we already had and was no longer using.  I will be sharing a tutorial on how to make it later.  Below it is the second of the two urns I described above.

We added a few poinsettias in the flower bed in front of the porch to give it some color and then outlined the bed with candy cane lights.

Vintage, Paint and more... vintage Christma porch lit up at night

This is how it looks with all the lights. I love that everything here was thrifted for very little, recycled or just a bit of greenery added to make it look oh so Christmasy.

So that is it for our Christmas porch this year.  I love how simple it was to add color and texture that gives it a very vintage feel by repurposing and recycling thrift store finds and things around our home.  So easy and budget friendly too.
