Faux Fishing Buoys

I think I have probably done an over kill on the beach inspired decor this summer but, living at the beach gives me so much inspiration.  Believe me, I could probably fill a year with fun beach inspired projects.  On that note I will tell you that this is the last one for this summer.  That is unless I find one I just can't resist!

This is a very simple project that Miss A helped me with at the same time we did the beach inspired centerpiece.  Miss A also painted some Dollar Tree "fishbowl" type votive holders with the same colors we used with our centerpiece pieces.  I then used the same method of macrame to make a jute netting around each one of the bowls to make them resemble the round bubble buoys fishermen use.  (I originally saw this done by Lucy over at Craftberry Bush and loved it so much that we wanted to make some for ourselves - so this is not an original idea.  Thank you Lucy for the great tutorial - we are definitely enjoying ours in our beach insired decor.)

Here they sit with an old syrup bottle we recycled.  We put a small amount of sand in it with some tiny shells and then placed a note in it.  Reminds me of the old song by Jim Croce - Time in a Bottle - this is a note in a bottle.  Miss A loves it and tells me stories about what the note says sometimes.  She does have a great imagination.

In this pic I also placed one of the buoys in one of our glass shells we have.  I love this vignette - I love that it is so beach inspired and that it is such a simple and budget friendly project.  Here I have it as it could be used as a centerpiece for a table but, we actually divided the components up and added them to other vignettes already in place around the house.  That's what I like about using similar colors and theme - they can be interchanged as my mood changes.

Well, that is it for the beach inspired decor this summer - although I think you can never have too much beach decor sitting around.  Hope you enjoyed all the different projects as much as I enjoyed making them.
