Share It One More Time Link Party #9

Good morning everyone - So glad you all could stop by today and hope you all are recovering from your Thanksgiving dinner - we are still eating the leftovers.  I don't know about you but I think they are the best part of Thanksgiving.  Yesterday I had my annual Tree Decorating party with my grands - I so look forward to this each year because we have such a great time - decorating the tree, baking cookies then eating them with hot cocoa and watching The Polar Express.  We even had a roaring fire in the fireplace even though it is in the 70's here.
I have nothing for you this week as  I spent the week with my grands enjoying the time with them but I promise some fun things for you next week.   So without further ado let's get on with the party - Barb is our host this week - take it away Barb!

Share It One More Time #8

Hi everyone.
Can you believe it's only  five days until Thanksgiving?  The temps have finally gotten cooler and we are getting some real fall color here at the beach.  Makes it feel so much like Fall.  I am so excited about Thanksgiving this year because our grand daughter "Sissy" is coming home from college - it seems like she has been gone forever. She loves to help me decorate for Christmas so I am sure we will be quite busy while she is here.

Today is also Saturday and that means it's time for the Share It One More Time link party and features.  Tammy is your host this week but before I turn it over to her I am going to share what I was up to.

Vintage, Paint and more... DIY snowman from thrifted wood pieces painted and added to a winter scene

I  joined with several other very talented bloggers in the Dose of Diy for a Christmas decor challenge.  My contribution was  a little wooden snowman I made with some bits and pieces of wood that I found at a thrift store.  I think he turned out so cute and the best part is he can be used through the winter not just for Christmas.
Now it's time to turn it over to Tammy.

Before I get to the features and party I would like to share a little bit of what I have been up to this past week. I have been slowly adding Christmas to our family room. This year we are using blacks, reds and whites. I have been having fun creating a couple of vignettes. One on the hearth using stenciled wood slices and another using mason jars both in the colors of this years Christmas colors in a Deer theme. If you get a chance pop on over to One More Time Events, I would love to show you around.

A Dose of DIY - Wooden Snowman

Hi everyone.  Today I am joining a group of great bloggers in the Dose of DIY challenge. This month's theme is Christmas decor made with wood or fabric.

My project is a cute little wooden snowman and I incorporated a bit of fabric with a scarf and hat for him.  Isn't he the cutest.

Vintage, Paint and more... snowman decor made from thrifted wood pieces

I made him with some wood pieces I found at the thrift store one day.  It was a large bag of all sorts of wood pieces - balls, spindles, beads, cubes, etc.  I had no idea what I was going to do with any of it but knew that it would come in handy in the future.

For this project I chose the two pieces below - a ball with a flat side and a small cup with a flat bottom.  I turned the cup over and glued the ball's flat side to the flat surface of the cup with some wood glue. Then I let it set for a while to dry.

Next I painted it all white except the little bottom lip which I painted black using craft paints.  I used a sharpie to make a face and some buttons down the front.  I love how cute he looks here - but I decided to go a step further.

Here's a little closer look at his face. Just two black dots for eyes, a small "u" shape with little dashes in red for a mouth.  Three black dots for buttons.

For the next step I cut a long strip of blue felt about 3/4 inch wide and then cut fringe on each end for a scarf.

I then used a thrift store shirt and cut a small square out of the sleeve.  I sewed up the open side to make a tube for a cap.  I then gathered it across the middle.   With this area I cut little bitty strips to make a tassel.  Love this little hat - did you notice it has snowflakes on it?  Perfect...
Before I added the hat and scarf I sprayed him with some hair spray and sprinkled on some glitter ( my new favorite way to add glitter to wooden objects).  Here he is all dressed and glittered  - ready for winter.

I wanted to place him in a bit of a snow setting.  I had a plastic plate I had bought at the dollar store and filled it with Epsom salts and then sprinkled some glitter on that to make "faux snow".

Next I added some bottle brush trees I picked up at the dollar store.

Time for our little guy to enter the snow laden woods.  He looks so at home here.

This little guy is definitely ready for the cold weather and not just for Christmas.  He could be kept around through the winter months to cheer you up.

Share It One More Time Link Party #7

Good morning everyone.
Can you believe it's Saturday and time for the Share It One More Time party?  Wow, has this week flown by as they all seem to.  I have to apologize for not being here last week but we had a family medical emergency that required my attention - all is well now though.  So without further ado I am going to pass the party on to Julie who is hosting this week.

Welcome back to another edition of the Share it One More Time Link Party!
