Grey Diamond Afghan Pattern

This post contains affiliate links.

Hi, everyone.  It seems the heat has become a bit more bearable for us but still too warm for me during the day.  I do go out around 8 each evening as does a lot of our little community to enjoy the cool breezes coming in from the ocean.  But during most of the day, you will find me inside working on something. Today I am going to share an afghan I just finished up.  I call it the Grey Diamond Afghan.

I can't believe how fast this past week has gone by.  We were talking to neighbors last evening and he (being a teacher) starts to school in four weeks!  Can you believe it - and our community pool hasn't opened as it is still under construction.  Miss A is hoping it opens by next week - fingers crossed.
So lets get on with the

Surf Board Inspired Table

Good morning everyone.
Today I am going to share a project from a while back that I never got around to sharing.  I had lost the pics but just found a couple of them.(I apologize for the lack of pictures in this post.) It's what I call the Surfer Table or the Surf Board Inspired Table.  It was a table that my son had some fun with and painted to look like a surf board. He used to surf when we lived in Florida and when he saw it at the thrift store said he thought the shape kind of reminded him of an old surfboard. What do you think?   Did he call it right?

DIY Raffia Wrapped Votives

Hi everyone.
I have a really cute and simple little craft for you today. Bright beach inspired  DIY raffia wrapped votive candles for your patio or anywhere. They are also budget friendly as all the supplies came from the Dollar Tree.  Aren't they adorable in this little beach vingette.

Vintage, Paint and more... Raffia wrapped votives in a beach inspired vignette

I started with a couple of votive candles in jars and a couple of rolls of raffia that I found at our Dollar Tree. The raffia comes in packages of three skeins - a royal blue, a turquoise and a lime green - bright, very fun colors.

I simply wrapped each votive jar with the raffia using a little hot glue here and there to keep it in place.

Then I added a little bit of twine by winding it around and tying it in place.  I glued a shell over the knot and wallah - you have a very cute little votive to use on your beach inspired patio or any where that you like.

Here are mine on my Twine Wrapped Table I made.  I placed them in a little beach inspired vignette with a "faux" beach glass painted bottle wrapped with twine and filled with some beach grasses and a bucket of shells and twig balls.

So cute - so beachy - and so quick to make. I love these bright colors.

DIY Multipurpose Cabinet

Good morning everyone.
Today I want to share with you a project that "T" has been working on for a few weeks.  He was commissioned to make a cabinet for a friend of his and in his "spare" time has been working on it.  I call it a multipurpose cabinet because I can think of so many uses for it however, she is going to be using it in her bathroom.

I forget to go to the garage when he is working and take pictures of the process but I have a few you can see.

Bottom left: the finished drawer construction.

This is the finished cabinet.  I am not too fond of the color that she chose to stain it - Minwax Sedona Red.  It is way too red for me however it does match the woods in her home and she is quite pleased with it.

She is using it in her bathroom for storage. This is the top cabinet area open that is large enough to store several towels or whatever she chooses.

Vintage, Paint and more... small drawer of DIY multipurpose cabinet

Second is the smaller drawer that is a good size to store quite a few items.

Then is the part I love - a clothes hamper including a bag.  I love this idea for a bathroom or a bedroom.  But you could use it for all sorts of storage - your imagination could go wild with this piece.  Needless to say I think we will be getting one of these at our house or two or three...

Vintage, Paint and more... hardware on multipurpose cabinet

This is a closeup of the hardware - he picked a black with a bronze trim around it to set them off a bit.

So much space in one little cabinet - so many uses.  I love it.
Now that "T" has finished this project he wants to finish a couple of others that were put on hold. With the cooler temps here Papa and I have been painting the living and dining rooms and I will be sharing that with you soon, along with a few other additions to that area of the house. Can't wait to get to that point.
On an added note - this weekend was quite exciting for our family as "T's" daughter - our granddaughter became engaged. He proposed to her right after he graduated from the Marine Basic Camp - right in the parking lot!
Needless to say she was quite surprised as were all of us.  The wedding is not for quite a while as she has to finish college and he has to finish his training.  But we are looking forward to lots of wedding planning in the future.

What have you been up to this summer?  Are you just taking some time off or have you been busy getting some projects out of the way or have you had some exciting news also?  I love to hear from you so tell me about it in the comments below.

Until next time have fun creating something you love.

I will be sharing with the parties listed on the Where I Party page. Please go by and visit them - I am sure you will find some great creativeness and inspiration there.

Share It One More Time Party and Features #18

Hi everyone and welcome to the

Share It One More Time Party and Features

Happy 4th of July

Can you believe it - the year is half spent already and it seems like just yesterday we were wishing it was summer.  This week I was under the weather with a stomach virus. Really!?  This is the week Miss A was at camp and I was supposed to get so much done - isn't that the way it always happens. Finally on Thursday I was able to start painting the living and dining rooms - a big project for us and hopefully we finish up this next week. I was able to share with you about another big project we are in the process of doing at this time...

We're saying goodbye to the pink ruffly girly girl room at Miss A's request and moving on to something a little different. But you'll have to stay tuned for the finished project because we are also in the middle of that one.  I wonder if we could start one more?
Tammy has been quite busy also with her daughter's wedding  preparations but she  was able to share some wonderful ideas for adding red, white and blue in the garden. She is so creative.

She also showed us how to mix blue and yellow(my two favorite colors) in our decor. She does it so beautifully as you can see.

This was a banner week for Share It One More Time as we had over 300 entries. And what wonderful and amazing creativeness you all brought with you. So without further ado let's get on with this week's features.

Linda of Crafts a la Mode made the most wonderful window valance by tying strips of bright cheery fabric to her curtain rod. Just so pretty. I love this idea for a simple window treatment.

Atta Girl Says made the most adorable containers for her party favor succulents. I want to go to that party.  So cute.

I simply fell in love with this rustic arrow sign that Muchmore Creative made. I can think of so many ways to use this. And she has a wonderful tutorial to make your own.

Adirondack Girl @ Heart made this gorgeous wreath to hang on her front door. I so miss lilacs and these are beautiful. Doesn't that pink just pop against the black.

I love all the special details that Marie at Interior Frugalista put on her bedside table.  The gold dipped legs, the gold gilding, the beautiful hardware, the stencil - so much to see.  Just gorgeous.

Better in Bulk shared her recipe for caramel brownie pudding in a jar.  I cannot wait to try this - looks so yummy.

Congratulations to all that were featured!!

Saying Good Bye to the Girly Girl Room

Our Miss A turns 10 in August and with this age change she is also changing her taste in style and decor.  It's really hard to see her go from that little girl look with the frills and lace to a more grown up look without so many frills.  She is definitely entering that preteen phase.  So when we moved here she announced that she wanted to very much change her room decor from her previous Girly Girl Room to a more grown up room. I am a little sad to see it go because it was everything girly and so cute.
