DIY Patio Table

Good morning friends.  Hope you all are having the most wonderful weather like we are.  It has been BEA-UT-I-FUL here.  We are lucky it has because we have had so much work to do outside as I know you have too.  Today I am going to bring you a project that T and I worked on together.  We do that sometimes. He builds it - I paint it. We needed a patio table and decided to DIY our very own.  I think you'll like this project as much as I do.

Vintage, Paint and more... A DIY chalk painted and stenciled beachy patio table

Isn't it the cutest and so fitting for our patio here at the beach.  I love it.  So let me tell you how we did it.

Vintage, Paint and more... DIY rustic wood patio table

I am not a tool girl so I do nothing with the building part except put in my two cents worth of critique when needed.  T and Papa do all the building. They found this round wood piece at the Lowe's one day and Papa decided it would make a nice little patio table.  So T decided to just make a little rustic one - nothing special.  He just used some old wood we had here and made a basic base then added the top to it.  I think it took like maybe a couple of hours from start to finish.  Then he handed it over to me to do the finish on it. Originally I was just going to paint it white and call it a day but then I got this creative bug and decided to do just a little bit more.

First I painted it with Valspar's Warm Breezes - I had a sample jar here.  I decided to make it into my DIY chalk paint.  It actually took two coats of paint to give it a good cover. I just love the shade of this blue - so beachy looking.

Then I made my own stencil out of clear contac paper.  I could have used my Cricut but was too lazy to drag it out so I  just traced the design and cut it out.  I applied it to the top of the table making sure all the edges were affixed tightly so no paint could seep under it. Then I painted the top of the table with Valspar's Polar White paint made into my DIY chalk paint.

I removed the stencil while the paint was still wet so it wouldn't pull the white up off the blue.  And this is what I had.  Now I wrestled with distressing this but decided to leave it this way for now.  I like the distressed look but for me I really like the clean lines and crispness of no distressing. It is still a possibility because T and Papa have not seen it yet.  They are on a trip and due back this eve.

Here's a picture of it all done and sitting on the patio.  What do you think?  I love it. I didn't stage it for you as I am in the process of getting everything into place on the patio and that will be another post. I have been working on several projects for out there and can't wait to show you what I have been up to.  What have you been up to? I love hearing from you so please tell me about it in the comments below.
