Hanging Heart Frame

Written by : Cathy Carroll

Since Valentine's is just around the corner
I thought I would share a very cute, simple and quick project.

This project can be done in about 30 minutes if you have the components lying around the house like I did.

You will need:
  • An old 8x10 frame (or size of choice) - this is a wooden one I picked up at a thrift store for $1 and painted white.
  • A piece of poster board or you could use a cereal box
  • A piece of scrapbook paper or you could use newspaper(make sure it fits the size of the frame opening)
  • About a yard of ribbon - entirely up to your frame size
  • A glitzy heart of your choice
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and sticks
  • Thumb Tack

Step 1
Glue the piece of scrapbook paper or newspaper to the piece of poster board. (This is a piece of music scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby for $.44)I just glued each corner. Cut out leaving a small margin around it to glue to the frame. I left about 1/2 inch - as you can see.

Step 2
This is the heart I chose. It's a Dollar Tree Christmas ornament that I have had a couple of years. You could make one out of foam core or cardboard or use one you have.
I ran the ribbon through the loop at the top of the heart, making sure I had enough to go around the frame and make a nice bow.

This is how it looks after tying the heart in place.
I adhered the ribbon with a thumb tack to the back so it would not slip and slide.
I also was checking to make sure the placement for my music sheet paper was aligned.

Glue the poster board to the frame. I just placed a dot of glue on each corner and one small one in the center of each side. I may want to use this frame for something else after the holiday and want it to be easily removed without any problems.

'
Here it is - all finished.
I love how it looks -
such an impact for something so simple.
And the great part is it can easily be taken apart and all the parts can be used in other projects after the holiday.
It took less than 30 minutes to put together

The rest of the vignette consists of thrifted candle sticks I picked up for $.50 and $1.00.
The candles are Christmas candles I bought on clearance a couple years ago.
The little bird - I do not remember where I got it but it was less than $5.
The little hearts came from Dollar Tree and are available in a package.

This is also not limited to just Valentine's Day Decor but with your imagination the possibilities are endless. Think of all the things you can hang from the ribbon, all the types of background, all the colors of ribbon and frames you can use for everyday decor and other holidays.
My mind is reeling with all the possibilities
and it actually showcases one very special item.

What do you think you will be framing in the future?

Until next time
have a great time creating something you love.

I will be linking up to the parties listed on the Where I Party page.  Make it a point to stop by each one and check out all the great inspiration and projects you'll find there.
