Smart Home Temperature Control

This post is sponsored by Honeywell and Klout.  I was compensated for writing it, but all opinions are 100% mine.

This weekend some very unseasonably cold weather came to visit the beach.  We had been having our usual beautiful Fall weather - sunny skies with temps in the 70's and then all of a sudden on Friday night we were sitting at 30 degrees.  I know that you in the Midwest and North have been having quite a bit of cold temps along with snow but for us to have 30's this soon is a little out of normal.  And I might add I just plain freeze to death at these temps.  Thank goodness I received the Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control in the mail the same day.It was a perk from Klout.

This is such a wonderful addition to our new home.  We are all so excited about it.  First of all it is voice activated allowing us to change the temperature in the house simply with a voice command.  No need to get up out of our chair or out of bed in the middle of the night should we need it cooler or warmer. Just call out to the thermostat to change the temp for us.  How much more convenient can that get?

T set to work installing it right away.  I think it may have taken about 30 minutes but about half of that time was spent going through the boxes in the garage looking for a screwdriver.  We still are not completely unpacked.

The instructions were very clear and concise and quite easy to follow.  Step by step spelled out for us with diagrams.  But still quite simple to do.  We incurred no problems at all.

Here it is installed on the wall - quite stylish and sleek.  I really like the looks of it.  And the screen can be customized to your decor.

The next step was to set it up.  You really cannot see the white words on the yellow screen in this picture but they are easily read.  It takes you through simple step by step instructions to set it up with the touch screen.  What I love about it is the ease of setting a schedule for the temperature to be changed with your daily schedule.  So we set it to begin to get warmer at 5:45 AM right before Miss A gets up for school and to start getting cooler for sleeping at 9:00 PM.

It also has several other great perks.  As you can see on the screen below it gives you the date and time, the outdoor temperature and humidity, and the indoor temperature and humidity.  You can also get the weather report on it.  But, one of the biggest perks is that Honeywell has a Smart Phone app I downloaded so I can now control the temperature from my phone.  This will come in handy on those days I leave the house when I have it set manually and have forgotten to change the settings.  I can now change the settings from anywhere I am.  How cool is that.

I love the voice control option also.  I can call out to the thermostat from another room and have it change the temperature by however many degrees I wish.  Some days here at the beach we wake with temps in the 30's and by noon we are up to the 70's.  I have been known to have the furnace on in the morning and the air conditioning going in the evening.  Crazy but true.

Thank you Honeywell and Klout I am enjoying the new comfort of our home.

Until next time - enjoy making something you love.

  5. That is really high tech. I like the feature that it tells you the outside temperature and the humidity.
