Tiny Entrepreneur

The other day we were all sitting around discussing our upcoming trip to Florida; talking about what exactly we wanted to do while we were there and of course, Disney had to be in the equation. ( You can meetour multigenerational family here).  Our little Miss A decided she would need some spending money for there and her Dad told her she really needed to earn her own this year since she is getting older and can earn it by doing some "chores" around the house.  She really didn't like the idea of doing "chores"  so, she came up with her own idea.

Vintage, Paint and more... being an entrepreneur

She decided she would open her own business - and, that she did.   She set up a box in our driveway along
with her patio chair and then carried out her drawing papers, crayons, colored pencils and markers.  She also took out some lotion she had from Bath and Body and few bottles of ice cold water.
We live in a gated community and it is probably 80% seniors with a few young families.  But, the point is everyone walks here - either in groups, by themselves or with their dogs. It was an overcast day with nice breezes and the temps were in the mid 70's.  It was a perfect day to be out. So, as the neighbors did their walks - Miss A plied them with her wares.   Art pictures, a sample of lotion because it smells nice, or a bottle of water to quench their thirst and always a bit of conversation. Honestly, Papa and I thought it was quite funny till she actually began making some money.

Vintage, Paint and more... learning from an entrepreneur

She drew pictures they requested and with each one she came in beaming and telling a story about her most recent sale.  She was especially proud of the picture the lady requested of herself and her dog.  She sold her pictures for $.25 each but some went a little higher and at the end of the day she had made $7.00.  She took a few breaks now and  then and would tell me "I have to go to my office now.  I'll be back later."  Papa and I would just smile at each other.  She also told me that now she didn't have to do chores to make money to spend at Disney - she would just use her business money.
The next day the sun was out bright and hot and there were few breezes but, Miss A set her office up and went to work on some more pictures.  Few were out in the mid afternoon when she was there but still she made about $1.  But, after about an hour she gave up because - "it's really hot out there" and the pool was calling her name.
We all posted a picture of her in her office on our personal Facebook pages and lo and behold she got orders coming in for pictures.  So, Miss A is quite busy fulfilling her orders before she leaves on vacation. She is still setting her little stand up as the weather permits - today it is storming so no stand. Our little entrepreneur has made close to $10 now.  Doing what she could with what she had.
I learned something valuable from this little lady and her venture.  She had no fear.  No fear of failure.  She just went out there and did what she does best at this age - draws pictures, talks to everyone, and all while  being so darn cute. I wonder just how far could I go if I just put myself out there and did what I do best?   No fear!  It's something to think about.
Have you ever just went for it and put yourself out there when others thought you were a little crazy for even thinking it would work?  I'd love to hear about it in the comments below.  I answer all comments through email.

Until next time - enjoy creating something you love.
